The disputed, US and Israel-backed Gaza relief foundation says it is terminating its relief activities in the affected area, subsequent to approximately 180 days.

The group had already suspended its multiple aid distribution centers in Gaza following the truce agreement between Hamas and Israel was implemented six weeks ago.

The organization attempted to circumvent United Nations channels as the primary provider of relief to Palestinian residents.

International relief agencies would not collaborate with its system, stating it was questionable and hazardous.

Many residents were fatally wounded while trying to acquire nourishment amid disorderly situations near the organization's distribution points, mainly through Israeli military action, according to the UN.

Israel said its soldiers fired alerting fire.

Program Termination

The organization declared on Monday that it was concluding activities now because of the "satisfactory fulfillment of its crisis response", with a total of three million packages containing the amounting to in excess of 187 million sustenance units provided to residents.

The foundation's chief officer, the executive director, additionally stated the United States-operated coordination body - which has been set up to help implement US President Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan - would be "implementing and enlarging the approach the organization demonstrated".

"The foundation's approach, in which Hamas could no longer loot and profit from stealing aid, had major impact in convincing militant groups to participate and establishing a truce."

Reactions and Responses

The Palestinian faction - which refutes aid diversion claims - approved the termination of the humanitarian foundation, based on information.

A spokesman for stated the organization should be made responsible for the damage it inflicted to Gazans.

"We urge all international human rights organisations to ensure that it does not escape accountability after leading to casualties and wounds of thousands of Gazans and covering up the food deprivation strategy implemented by the Israeli government."

Operational Background

The foundation started work in Gaza on May 26th, a short period subsequent to Israel had partially eased a comprehensive closure on relief and commercial goods to Gaza that continued for 77 days and led to substantial deficiencies of vital resources.

After 90 days, a food crisis was announced in Gaza City.

The GHF's food distribution sites in the southern and middle regions of Gaza were managed by US private security contractors and situated within areas controlled by Israeli forces.

Relief Agency Issues

The UN and its partners stated the approach violated the fundamental humanitarian principles of neutrality, impartiality and independence, and that guiding distressed residents into militarised zones was fundamentally dangerous.

The UN's human rights office stated it documented the fatalities of no fewer than 859 Gazans attempting to obtain nourishment in the proximity to foundation locations between late May through end of July.

An additional 514 individuals were fatally wounded around the routes of UN and other aid convoys, it added.

The majority of these individuals were fatally wounded by the Israeli forces, as per the organization's documentation.

Divergent Narratives

The Israeli military claimed its soldiers had discharged cautionary rounds at individuals who came near them in a "menacing" manner.

The organization declared there were no shooting events at the distribution centers and accused the UN of using "false and misleading" figures from the Gazan medical department controlled by militant factions.

Subsequent Developments

The organization's continuation had been uncertain since Palestinian factions and Israeli authorities consented a halt in hostilities arrangement to carry out the first phase of Trump's peace plan.

It said humanitarian assistance would take place "without interference from the involved factions through the international bodies and their affiliates, and the humanitarian medical organization, in conjunction with other international institutions not linked whatsoever" with militant groups and the Israeli government.

United Nations representative the UN spokesman said on Monday that the GHF's shutdown would have "zero effect" on its work "since we never collaborated with them".

The official further mentioned that while increased relief was entering the region since the halt in hostilities began on 10 October, it was "not enough to meet all the needs" of the 2.1 million residents.
