Eulogies Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the couple.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt prepared to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can at last articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, adding that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began spending more time together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the movie, commenting that he cannot recall "one day without joy".
"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes continued.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I think of you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
In a distinct tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge decided to block the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate placed a embargo on the investigation to limit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the probe.
The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a public database noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
After the tragedy, public personalities shared different comments.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering provocative remarks that were widely condemned by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his perspective to the critics last week. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan described the statements as "shocking" and remarked they revealed a worrisome absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by proposing that an associate could have intervened when the choice to comment on the tragedy was made.
