Jet Transporting US Defense Secretary Forced to Touch Down in UK Because of Fracture in Windshield
A plane ferrying Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was compelled to make an unplanned landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday after a crack was found in the aircraft's cockpit window, according to an official announcement which verified that the secretary was unharmed.
"The plane landed in accordance with standard procedures and all individuals on the flight, such as Defense Secretary Hegseth, is safe," a press officer said in a social media post.
The secretary was coming back from a quick journey to the Belgian capital during the flight.
This occurrence is not the first time that a American defense plane carrying a high-ranking official has encountered technical problems.
Earlier this year, a United States Air Force aircraft ferrying Secretary of State Marco Rubio to the city in Germany was forced to turn back to the US capital after suffering a mechanical fault.
