New England Equal Best Victory Run Since Brady Years with Triumph Over Jets
First-year player Henderson has tallied five TDs this season
The New England Patriots matched their best victory streak from the Brady era as they beat division opponents the Jets by 13 points in professional football
First-year standout Henderson shone brightly with three scores as the New England squad secured an eighth straight win for the first time since iconic QB Brady's closing campaign with the team in the 2019 season
Quarterback Maye threw for 281 passing yards and a touchdown, completing 25 of 34 passes
Victory extends the New England's lead at the top of the AFC East as they advanced to a 9-2 record, with the Jets at the foot after dropping to two victories and eight defeats
The opposing team had gone in front at their home field with QB Fields rushing for a short rushing score to finish the New York's initial series
But the Patriots answered in the second quarter as the rookie rushed for two short rushing scores before the running back grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the back of the end zone midway through the third period to make it 21-7
"It was a key occasion for him stepping up, and it's been excellent for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback said of Henderson. "He desires to be great."
Fields found John Metchie toward the end of the third period to reduce the lead for the Jets but Borregales converted a two field goals in the final period as the home side sealed the win
