'The president is unhinged': Trump's social media activity appears more strange.
To many observers, both in the US and abroad, the former president has been acting peculiarly in recent times. Notably in digital spaces.
Current Online Incidents
While a federal shutdown approached in the US the previous week, the commander-in-chief posted a computer-generated clip that showed Hakeem Jeffries, the inaugural African American minority leader, donning a wide-brimmed hat and exaggerated moustache, accompanied by mariachi tunes behind the scenes.
Latino organizations denounced the social media content calling them "racist", "risky" and "reprehensible", however Trump intensified, posting a new video which showed himself wearing a sombrero and playing the guitar alongside an image of Jeffries.
Computer-Created Content and Speculative Ideas
This represented merely one example in which the president's conduct looked peculiar. Recently Trump reposted via his preferred network an artificially produced misleading footage pushing "medical bed facilities".
"Every American will soon receive their own med bed card," the artificial version of Trump seemingly in the Oval Office declared. "With it, you'll have guaranteed access to our new hospitals directed by premier medical experts across the country."
Setting aside the fact that the idea of "med beds" constitutes a right-leaning speculative claim – certain proponents argue that federal authorities and/or a group of wealthy Americans possess advanced medical equipment capable of treating numerous diseases, yet are concealing the innovation – Trump's post prompted a number of questions.
White House Reaction
The content was eventually removed, but it remains baffling, and the presidential team's answer didn't help ease the bewilderment.
I believe the commander-in-chief viewed the clip and shared it, then removed it," Karoline Leavitt stated when inquired about the footage.
Further Troubling Occurrences
In a recent speech within the executive mansion where Trump claimed – opposing current scientific consensus – that the medication could connect to autism spectrum when consumed by pregnant women, the president puzzlingly mentioned regarding "particular components of intelligence that might be bestowed upon infants".
The previous week, while at a media briefing with Britain's premier Keir Starmer, Trump mistakenly identified Armenia with Albania while talking about a peace agreement established between the two nations.
Michigan Shooting Response
Returning to online platforms, on Sunday Trump wrote on his social media platform that he had "been briefed" on a shooting at a Mormon church in Michigan which killed four people.
He later published more material. Yet, it didn't constitute news about the continuing incident in Michigan. Instead, three hours later, he shared a video which showed an array of golden accessories and decorations.
Military Address
Apart from the puzzling digital conduct, the president's in-person appearances have likewise grown peculiar.
The other day, the president called the country's top military commanders to a meeting in Virginia. Speaking to senior defense officials, the president, appearing exhausted, touted his alleged successes.
"America is respected again as a country. We were not respected with Biden," Trump continued. "They looked at him falling down stairs regularly. Constantly, the individual stumbles on steps."
Political Reactions
The presentation caused immediate alarm, comprising retired armed forces personnel. Barry McCaffrey, a retired general told MSNBC that Trump's performance constituted "some of the most peculiar, concerning occurrences I've experienced".
"The president seemed confused, fatigued, extremely political, sometimes unintelligent," the retired officer commented.
Trump's speech was enough for Congresswoman Madeleine Dean, a Pennsylvania Democratic representative, to approach the Republican House speaker, Speaker Johnson.
"The president is unhinged. He seems unhealthy," the congresswoman informed Johnson.
Johnson looked untroubled by the remarks. "Well a lot of folks from your party appear similar," the speaker answered.
