Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, local government spokespeople confirmed on late Wednesday. The fighter was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Healing from Light Wounds

Joshua had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

Remembering the Victims

Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two dear friends.”

This update on his health comes as the boxing community shared its support for the fighter in the wake of the terrible crash.
